A South African retail chain was looking for a way to reduce energy costs by managing the relationship between demand and usage in individual stores. IPMC analysed power usage (measured in kilowatt-hours) and demand (kilovoltamps) to determine
- Energy Intensity Analysis (kWh/square meter/year)
- Relationship between cost and Load Factor
- Demand Profile
- Tariff Analysis
Load Factor is an indicator of how effectively each store was using its demand. A higher load factor leads to lowering total cost per kwh and the results of the detailed analysis were used to generate considerable savings for each store.
